Configure your applications to use the SOCKS proxy
This document will provide an easy step-by-step configuration for SocksCap, a tool to socksify your applications.

SocksCap is a free tool to run any application, like ICQ, BitTorrent or Outlook, through a SOCKS proxy. You can download the software for free on SurfoNyms download area or from permeo.

The great advantage of SOCKS is that you can run some applications through the SOCKS proxy, while other use your normal internet encryption.

Some applications have a built-in support for SOCKS proxy, so they don't need SocksCap. These include the popular IRC client mIRC.

When you first start SocksCap, you need to enter your authentication details which you received from SurfoNym.
SOCKS Login

Now, go to the menu and open settings.
Use SurfoNym's SOCKS proxy server, in most cases this will be proxy.surfonym.com. Be sure to use SOCKS Version 5 and Username/Password Authentication.
SOCKS configuration settings

Now you need to define applications which you can run through the proxy later. From the main screen, click on New to add a new profile.
SOCKS main screen

Here you add a new profile. Let's say you want to use your favourite browser, the Microsoft Internet Explorer, with SOCKS proxy support.
For Profile Name you'll want to use some descriptive name which you can remember.
Command Line is the exact location of the application's executable. Use the Browse button to find it. Most likely your applications will reside within the C:\Program Files path.
SocksCap will then set the Working Directory automatically. In most cases, leave the automatic setting as it is.
SOCKS add new profile

In your main screen, you should now see the newly added application. Double-click the application's name, and SocksCap will start it up. The application will use the SOCKS proxy for all network traffic automatically and without any further configuration.
